Disputes of artists Syromolotov on art in S. N. Sergeyev-Tsensky's novel "Doomed to death"

Abstract. The paper deals with the disputes of the artists Syromolotovs on art in S. N. Sergeev-Tsensky's novel “Doomed to death”. Representatives of different generations, the father and the son, differently look on new in life in general and on art in particular. The reasons caused the polar views of art in many respects are caused by social development of the country at the beginning of the XX century. The attention to positions of each artist concerning art is paid, methods of art creativity of each of them are considered.
