The paper describes the sequence of actions for design of decorative ceramic products. The recommendations are given for students majoring in “Arts and crafts” and “Ceramics”.

The article analyzes the written sources of the last quarter. XIX – beg. XX centuries: reference and informational publications, statistical collections, catalogs and newspaper publications. On its basis, an assumption is made about the most likely places for the production of the bulk of irrigated and non-irrigated pottery from the cultural layer of Yekaterinburg in the corresponding period. The directions of further research are also outlined, which can confirm or correct the results of this work.
