The author displays methodological aspects of modeling the content and structure of the electronic textbook for the course "Culture of oral and written language" for future teachers of the Ukrainian language and literature, discovers the technological approach to the structure of language theory. In the approach it is important to select and create such logical structures of knowledge, which become the way of cognitive activity and provide a transition from the reproductive activity to forecast, from empirical level to theoretical level, from general to concrete.

Mathematical statistics course is a part of curricular of students, who are enrolled in “physical training” direc-tion and it is aimed at development of general cultural and general professional competences. To coordinate students’ individual work, the educational process use traditional textbooks, manuals of problem solving, electronic textbook and distant tutorials. Number of students, who use electronic textbooks and distant tutorials increased dramatically from 2005 to 2010, and at the same time, results on “Mathematics” subject were improved. The results of the research show the expediency of using traditional textbooks as well as electronic ones in the educational process.

The article says that electronic textbooks implementation into educational process requires thorough inspec-tion of its advantages and disadvantages. Indisputable advantages of electronic textbooks are individuali-zation of learning, multimedia implementation and self-educational competence formation. The high cost and complexity of electronic books creation as well as unusualness of their use in educational process are stated as the disadvantages of electronic books. The conclusion is that electronic textbook is not able to replace the traditional textbook completely but it can complement it.

The article deals with the aspect of pedagogical characteristics of the electronic textbook formulation in a military institute. It also describes the main principles of the electronic textbook description and the stages of its creation. It demonstrates the functional diagram of electronic textbook creation.
