The paper discusses the results of the study of gender characteristics of mental states of anxiety, frustration, aggressiveness, rigidity and their impact on the formation of social, psychological and emotional activity of adaptability of young personality. Significant factors for the efficient adaptability of the young boys are anxiety and aggression, of young girls – anxiety and rigidity.

The relevance of studying conflict behavior, ways of responding to conflicts and the ability to resolve conflict situations is due to the importance of the communication skills formation and personal self-regulation development. The study was conducted in order to examine the influence of an increased level of rigidity on the choice of behavior styles in conflict. The pronounced rigidity of the person influences the choice of passive strategies for resolving conflict situations. A person with increased indicators of mental rigidity is least likely to use the rivalry style among the active methods of responding to a conflict.
The article discusses the features of rigidity in youth with different levels of psychological well-being. The analysis of studies of rigidity in the scientific literature was carried out. The results of a study of the level of rigidity of first-year students of a pedagogical university with different levels of psychological well-being are presented. Variations of combinations of psychological well-being and rigidity, their influence on the life of youth is described.

The analysis of rigidity studies in the scientific literature is carried out. The results of a study of the level of rigidity of first-year students of a pedagogical university with different levels of socio-psychological adaptation are presented. Variations of combinations of socio-psychological adaptation and rigidity, their impact on students' life activity are described.
