The development of secondary education in the province of Orel

Abstract. Paper is devoted to the history of gymnasium education in pre-revolutionary Russia in the Oryol province. Till 1874 the Oryol province belonged to the Kharkov educational district and down to 1871 in province the unique classical gymnasium - in Orel function. The author analyzes preconditions and factors educations promoting development in province till 1874.
