This research characterises the process of the use of problem situation in education by the example of the topic «Administrative infraction in Highway Code sphere», which is aimed to build the professional competence of students of the educational institution of secondary professional education. It also examines the content of the term «problem situation» and defines the role of problem situations in the process of problem education in law. It suggests the variants of the use of problem situations to build professional competence of students of the educational institution of secondary professional education by the example of the theme «Administrative infraction in Highway Code sphere».
