This article provides a definition of bibliometrics, describes the main bibliometric methods of analysis. The main electronic databases of publications with a brief description are presented. The principle of selection of publications for PubMed is considered. The research material revealing the evolutionary tendencies of the term "prevent" is presented. The study was carried out using the PubMed library of scientific publications. The analysis of the evolution of the prevent principle was carried out from 1861 to 2020. The samples of publications were formed over ten-year periods. As a result of the study, tendencies of changes in terminology in the concept of 4p-medicine were revealed.
