The paper gives a review of modern scientific disciplines involved in bird study. The most important achievements in this area obtained by Russian and foreign specialists are shown, they allow to demonstrate the significant part of birds in human life. The possibility of bird study in the context of ecolinguistic paradigm with the aim to preserve the beauty and diversity of the world reflected in a language is noted.
