Due to the popularization of the topic of environmental safety and the established political doctrine of environmentalism, speculation regarding environmental knowledge, ecology as a science and environmental protection activities as a social movement is becoming more frequent in all spheres of society. The fact of an attempt to substitute concepts, blurring the boundaries of the study of sciences and attempts to integrate sciences, which contradicts the principle of science, since each science has its own subject of reference, causes indignation. The relevance of the issue raised is the need to highlight and concretize the aspects of security and stability in the application of the sustainable development strategy and other doctrines representing a set of environmental security measures.
According to academician B.T. Likhachev, ecological culture is «an organic unity of ecologically developed consciousness with an emotional and mental state and scientifically based volitional utilitarian and practical activity». Culture can be viewed in different aspects: • political culture makes it possible to ensure an ecological balance between the natural environment and active human economic activity; • philosophical culture makes it possible to better comprehend and understand the purpose of man as a cumulative product of nature and society; • aesthetic culture creates conditions for emotional perception of beauty and harmony in nature; • legal culture keeps a person within the framework of interaction with nature permitted by law; • physical culture orients a person to the effective development of his own natural essential forces. In this paper, the concept of culture is considered in relation to the problems of environmental safety.
