The article deals with the peculiarities of rural employment in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) as a global issue of the right to work and protection from unemployment, written in the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Actualization of the possibility of various labor activity with decent pay and working conditions serves as a strategic reference point of the government policy and the most important factor of social and economic development. A significant part of the Republic population lives in areas of poor transport accessibility due to insufficient development and the lack of employment areas diversity. They are engaged mainly in traditional forms of natural resources use, which have recently experienced significant difficulties with the life-supporting function of the industry. Consequently, it is necessary to update the measures of the government social policy to promote employment, taking into account the importance of supporting the population with special needs for the realization of their labor rights.

The author analyzes and summarizes third-year students’ opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of the teacher’s profession, their suitability for the job and gives information regarding the teacher’s average salary in different regions of Russia and compares the data with the students’ views on the desired salary level.
