The article emphasizes the need to take into account the modern conditions of teaching Russian as a foreign language: migration processes, active intercultural interaction, strengthening the visualization of culture and social life, etc. The author notes the importance of a reasonable combination of traditional and modern principles of teaching Russian as a foreign language with an emphasis on the communicative and activity approach, which assumes the maximum orientation of training to communication, to the formation of the necessary level of competence in the field of speech behavior in different communicative situations. The article considers in detail the principle of pragmatic relevance of training, which consists in matching the educational material to the psychophysiological features, social and professional needs of students.
