This article examines the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the modern French text bookAlter ego. The positive aspects of the manual, the actual and original presentation of educational information, the realities of modern French life are noted. At the same time, attention is focused on the use of non-standard vocabulary in this publication, including such as colloquialisms and, in particular, so-called colloquialisms, the use of which is functionally justified, since this particular layer of vocabulary reflects the life of modern youth in France.
