The article considers fighting life, scientific research and hypothetical reconstructions of medieval earth-timber fortifications in the village of Lukh, Ivanovo Region. The significance of the latest scientific discoveries (first of all those of archaeological excavations) in the study of the fortress is noted. The work performed to restore the Lukhsky fortress is examined over again and the assessment of this event is given.
