The article examines the role of preliminary translation text analysis and translation editing in creating high quality translation; the article identifies the main problematic aspects of gaining translation skills in professional training of translators in higher educational institutions. The results of the research are in distinguishing the difficulties in gaining text analysis and editing skills, the article suggests ways for overcoming these difficulties.
