The problems of organizing social assistance to elderly citizens are considered. The traditional and activating approaches to social services for the elderly are compared. The specifics of the needs and opportunities of different categories of senior citizens are indicated. The necessity of public-private partnership in the organization of social services for the population is substantiated.
The concept of studying the quality of life is one of the main components of the modern health care system. It is the quality of life that reproduces the concept of general well-being and the degree of satisfaction of the population with those aspects of life that are significantly affected by the state of health [1]. The purpose of the study is to study the qualitative characteristics of the life of patients with chronic kidney disease. Objects and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of the Smolensk Regional Clinical Hospital. It involved 54 patients with chronic kidney disease aged 18 to 80 years. the collection of information was carried out through direct questioning with a questionnaire form sf-36. Results. It was found that in women, the highest values of the scale values were exclusively at the age of 18 to 38 years, while among men, some values of the scales prevailed at the age of 39 to 59 years. Conclusion. Data analysis showed that the quality of life among male respondents was higher than among female respondents.
Evaluation of students' level of anxiety and identification of factors influencing the formation of a high level of anxiety make it possible to prevent the occurrence of violations of the social and psychological spheres of students' lives, which is necessary to preserve the physical and mental health of students. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of situational and personal anxiety among students of different courses and to establish its impact on the quality of life of students. Materials and methods. The study was conducted among 1st and 3rd year students of the Smolensk State Medical University using the analytical method, sociological survey, correlation analysis. Results. The article presents the results of a survey to establish the levels of situational and personal anxiety of 1st and 3rd year students, as well as a survey about bad habits, health status, quality of life of students. The strongest influence of the state of health of 1st and 3rd year students on the formation of an increased level of anxiety was revealed. Diseases of the ENT organs are most common in students of both 1st and 3rd courses. Findings. There are more students with a high level of situational and personal anxiety in the 3rd year, and with a low level – in 1st year. The state of health of students, their quality of life, regular alcohol consumption affect the formation of an increased level of anxiety among students.
The article discusses issues of assessing the quality of life from the point of view of foreign authors. Quality of life assessment is considered in the context of the HDI (Human Development Index). Conclusions are drawn about the relationship between indicators for assessing the human development index.

Kapustina, etc. Approaches to these definitions are presented, and differences in scientific categories are revealed: quality of life, living conditions and lifestyle.
