The article deals with the problem of socio- communicative competence formation within the educational process of modern universities: the case of training of Russian language teachers with the additional specialization «the Foreign teacher». The article describes the results of the speciality syllabus analysis, the results of confrontive tests of the competence. The author comes to the conclusion that the way of training should be changed without syllabus altering
