The phenomenon of frustration, to which this paper is devoted, attracts the attention of many authors and is widely used in works and research in psychology. The article analyses the concept of "frustration" in dictionaries and encyclopaedias. The author comes to the conclusion that in spite of the fact that frustration is described in many works, many things are still unclear and there is no unified understanding of the term by specialists. The multiple meanings of the term "frustration" complicates the use of materials and analysis of the results of experimental studies and does not give a complete understanding of the phenomenon of frustration.
