In accordance with federal state standards of basic general education, the basic general education program is implemented not only within the framework of lessons, but also by means of extracurricular activities. However, mathematics teachers often find it difficult to organize extracurricular activities and consider them useless. The article considers the possibility of developing cognitive activity of students by means of extracurricular activities.

The article presents the problem of mental activity basic techniques using at the mathematics lessons. With their help it is possible to achieve maximum efficiency of learning process through classification and systematization, analyses and synthesis. The authors give examples of the tasks with parameter and illustrate some features of educational activities.
