The paper focuses on the process of formation of the general cultural competences among pedagogical high school students. The discipline “Foreign language” is a mean of formation of the general cultural competences, according to the author, along with other humanitarian disciplines. The paper deals with modern educational methods and technologies, which help foreign language teachers to form the general cultural competences of students at Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University.

The modern educational technologies in generating of foreign language communicative competence of pedagogical high school students are proved in the article. Applying of information and communication technologies in teaching of foreign language in high school is seen. The modern educational technologies for generating of foreign language communicative competence of pedagogical high school students on the basis of practical experience in Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University during Foreign Language lessons are described.

Updated competence approach in the training of students of pedagogical high school in the conditions of introduction of new educational standards is proved in the article. Formation of a foreign language professional communicative competence of the student is seen as a prerequisite for a successful career of students of pedagogical high school. The methods, techniques and educational technology for formation of foreign language professional communicative competence of students of pedagogical high school based on practical experience in the Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University during Foreign Language lessons are described.

In the article the term “future teacher’s patriotism” is under discussion. Specific character of future teacher’s upbringing is analyzed. Functions and structural components of the term “future teacher’s patriotism” are identified. The model of upbringing of future teacher’s patriotism is proved. Stages of experimental work for future teacher’s patriotism in Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University during English lessons are described.
