The author deals with the general problem of reducing the educational-cognitive activity of students. The author proposes methods of its research in close relationship with monitoring levels of knowledge, presents the results of the questionnaire concerning to assess the importance for discipline "Engineering Graphics" by university students. The author suggests an approximate plan for teaching of the discipline topics, which is an example of a particular solution of the problem. This approach can improve the activation of independent cognitive activity of students.

Preparation of practice-oriented bachelor's demands implement the production orientation of the learning process. The paper presents the proposals for the organization of workshops and the development of case assignments in engineering graphics, which provide production orientation study this discipline, contribute to a better development of the professional goal setting, activation of learning and cognitive activity and a higher level of preparation of students as a whole.
The author substantiates the need for creative technologies in the development of the discipline "Engineering Graphics" in accordance with modern trends in the field of vocational training. Also, we offer an example of creative technology training (case method) to conduct training sessions.

The authors study the ways of changing ideology in problems of technical knowledge possession, the ability to read drafts and knowing rules and norms of drafting. The use of modern computer graphics means is possible only on the basis of engineering graphics laws and rules.
