Identification and training of talented young people is the priority in the development of the modern system of education. It is clear that the economic and intellectual potential of the country depends, to some extent, on the quantity and quality of the so-called gifted individuals. Every educational institution works in this direction. As for our Gymnasium, there have been created the following conditions for the development of gifted children: the didactical system of developing teaching by D.B. Elkonin – V.V. Davydov, as the basis for class activities; the system of extra-curricular activities; organized supervision of students’ project and research work; an individual curriculum in high school based on career preferences of students; participation in contests and Olympiads. In order to identify and develop children’s talents and abilities, we have worked out and implemented the system of monitoring students’ achievements, as well as the system of encouragement and rewards for gifted students and their tutors.

This article reveals the concept of aesthetic education as purposeful process of formation of the child's aesthetic relation to reality. Considers the methods, tools and techniques, which can be achieved by the successful development of aesthetic taste in children. Highlighted the important role of the teacher in the process of creative development of the child. Shows the different directions of art, which can undergo the formation of aesthetic consciousness of the younger school student.
The article summarizes the author’s experience of using extra-curricular activities when teaching English to first-year Education majors (Primary education and the English language). Objectives, principles and types of extra-curricular activities are highlighted, examples of the extra-curricular activities conducted during the first year of studies with the Education majors are given and their education value is analyzed.
The author describes and analyzes the results of the survey of fifth-year students of the Institute of pedagogics and psychology regarding the process of language learning in the university and draws conclusions concerning the ways of improving English language teaching.
