The article is devoted to questions of organization of independent work of the students in conditions point-rating system of an estimation of progress on an example of study of discipline "History of science and technology". The author reveals the positive and negative sides of point-rating system, opens opportunities of its application in connection with study of discipline “History of science and technology”
The article discusses the advantages of the point-rating system, the features of the process of evaluating learning outcomes associated with its use. The problems faced by students and teachers are indicated. Approaches and tools for regulating the evaluation process are proposed, a brief description and examples of their use are given.
