The inquiry-based science education (IBSE) is considered a useful method to overcome the current limitation in science education in the Czech Republic. Based on the PISA 2015 results, the education in the Czech Republic is too theoretical and with limited opportunities to develop pupils‘ competencies and literacies. IBSE has the potential to improve the scientific literacy of pupils as well as to increase pupils‘ interest and internal motivation towards science subjects. Within the paper, one Chemistry lab-class taught by IBSE method is described.

This study examines the introduction of an unconventional approach to final chemistry lessons in secondary school, which aims to increase teaching effectiveness and student engagement. For this purpose, an analysis of the relevant literature was carried out, an unconventional method was identified, and appropriate material was selected for theoretical and experimental research. An unconventional method of Design thinking was chosen for the research.
Pedagogical practice has demonstrated a high level of knowledge acquisition in both types of classes, which proves the value of systematic chemical thinking. The study offers a new perspective on the development of students' creative abilities using non-standard methods. It is also aimed at improving academic performance, deepening knowledge of chemistry and activating cognitive interests with the help of developed non-standard approaches in the final lessons.

This article examines the impact of the elective course "Lipid Chemistry" on the development of experimental skills in high school students. Here are the results of a pedagogical experiment conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of this elective course. The study offers recommendations on the organization of a course aimed at developing experimental skills in chemistry. The results showed that the students who completed the course showed significant progress and improved experimental skills, which confirms the relevance and effectiveness of this course.
