Diagnostics of high-voltage equipment is considered to be obligatory and necessary process to provide safe, reliable and efficient operation of high-voltage electrical installations. One of the main tasks of diagnostics of high-voltage is to measure the characteristics of partial discharges in insulation. In the planning of repairs, assessment of the degree of danger and operation reliability, it becomes important to know the location of the source of partial discharges. This article is devoted to the use of partial discharge method in diagnostics of high-voltage equipment and provides general information about partial discharges, diagnostics of high-voltage equipment, in particular, an acoustic method for detecting partial discharges based on the AR700 device is considered.
This method of control is more economical and can become an additional one for companies engaged in diagnostics of high-voltage equipment.

In this study, the internal features of ten round cut sapphire gemstones with weight 0,06 to 0,96 carats and diameter 2,49 to 6,11 millimeters were examined using optical microscopy by binocular gemological microscope. A visual examination of the stones showed they did not meet the typical quality of standards for round diamond cutting. The following types of internal defect clusters were identified: veils, fingerprints, and growth zoning. Based on a number of detected features, it was determined that the samples were natural in origin and were treated by heating to improve the coloration of sapphire samples. This work confirms that the analysis of inclusions is an important part of determining the nature of sapphires.
