This article examines the reflection of the rhetorical standard in the proverbs and sayings of different peoples, specifically Russian, English, and Korean. The study analyzes phraseological units related to speech qualities such as brevity, provability, thoughtfulness, and kindness. By comparing these small folklore genres, the research identifies both universal human values and national-cultural specifics embedded in each tradition. The analysis reveals that despite different historical paths and cultural developments–from the public rhetoric of Ancient Greece to the "graceful" literature of Asia–all three cultures converge on a common understanding of exemplary speech. However, each nation manifests these qualities uniquely: English proverbs tend to be metaphorical and tactful, Russian sayings are direct and categorical, and Korean expressions are deeply rooted in historical and literary context. The findings contribute to a better understanding of intercultural communication and the enduring wisdom of folk linguistics.
