This article discusses the process of learning in the period of adaptation of first-graders. Discusses the various methods and forms of work with students and parents for the elimination of the reasons and the difficulties encountered in this period. Recommendations to parents about proper organization and maintenance of the child in this difficult time.
This article examines the issue of leaders in the team of junior schoolchildren, their impact on the adaptation of first-grade students. The methods of diagnostics of a classroom, the place of students in it and its results, diagnostics and results of adaptation of first-graders to schooling and the program of work with class students are given.
The article presents the results of the correction of maladaptation of first graders through art therapy. A brief description of the phenomenon of school maladaptation is given. The main advantages of using art therapy in working with younger students are listed. Changes in the indicators «Difficulties of adaptation in the children's team» and «The formation of the cognitive sphere» as a result of the implementation of the art therapy program for first graders are proved.

The relevance of the study lies in orienting first-grade students towards the development of independence, the need to bear responsibility for their actions, and the ability to adjust their activities. The formation of self-control skills is an effective process that determines the success of educational activities, therefore it is important to identify the pedagogical conditions for the formation of self-control skills in the process of project activities.
The concept of school maladaptation of first graders is considered, the main causes of its occurrence, the symptoms of manifestation are identified. The signs of manifestation of maladaptation are also studied, which helps early detection and faster and more successful correction. Particular attention is paid to the prevention of maladjustment, in which an integrated approach, including the work of various specialists, occupies a special place. In addition, the types of psycho-correctional work aimed at correcting and preventing school maladaptation of first-graders are listed.
