In this work, collagen hydrolysate is used as a multifunctional additive that comprehensively improves the properties of synthetic BNKS-18 butadiene-nitrile rubber. For the first time, the dependence of an increase in the equilibrium modulus of elasticity on the density of the mesh with an increase in the frost-resistant characteristics of the material was determined. The scientific novelty of introducing collagen hydrolysate into rubber consists in its effective use as a “plasticizer”, providing an increase in the frost resistance of materials without compromising their physical and mechanical characteristics.

STUDY OF CLIMATIC RESISTANCE OF RUBBERS BASED ON A MIXTURE OF BUTADIENE-NITRILE, BUTADIENE AND ISOPRENE RUBBERS IN A PETROLEUM ENVIRONMENT // Научно-методический электронный журнал «Концепт». – 2025. – . – URL: http://e-koncept.ru/2025/0.htm
Elastomeric material has been developed for arctic applications, consisting of butadiene-nitrile (BNKS-18), butadiene (SKD-L), and isoprene (SKI-3) rubbers. This rubber was subjected to full-scale climatic tests in Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Over the course of one year, properties such as physical and mechanical characteristics, compression set coefficient of frost resistance (Kv), swelling degree, and plasticizer content were analyzed using infrared spectroscopy. The experiment showed that there were no critical changes in most of the studied parameters. However, the results indicated a slight decrease in tensile strength by 22% and an increase in RCS by 20% at the beginning of the exposure. Kv significantly decreased by 70% due to the washing out of the plasticizer, stabilizing at a level of 0.13, compared to ~0 for industrial rubbers based on BNKS-18 in similar harsh conditions of a sharply continental climate. The low-temperature elasticity of the material can be attributed to the SKD-L and SKI-3 rubbers, which are not leached by the working environment (petroleum from the Talakan field) and therefore maintain high frost resistance.
