The article focuses on the importance of developing sociocultural competence at all stages of learning English as a foreign language. Everyone should be able to express themselves correctly and competently in the target language in order to avoid interethnic conflict. In ESL lessons each teacher can choose their own way of immersing in the culture of the country of the language learnt, what we offer is a wide use of various authentic materials. Taking into account the fast-developing world and psychological peculiarities of modern man we emphasise the design of lessons on authentic articles, videos, etc. on the Miro board, which entails not only the convenience and speed of lesson creation by the teacher but also reflects the increased interest in the study of socio-cultural aspect in foreign language lessons.

Artificial intelligence infiltrated our lives many decades ago, but it has not until lately become a burning topic of heated debates and intense discussions all over the world. With chatbots gaining popularity among students, educators around the world are concerned about academic integrity and honesty. When banning AI turned out to be out of the question, the only way to come to terms with the new reality is to learn how to collaborate with AI to enhance students’ learning. This article explores how language instructors can implement AI tools to create materials aimed at improving EFL students’ writing skills and to create writing activities to implement in the classroom with the same purpose. It points out the importance of teaching students to collaborate with AI instead of using it as a tool for cheating and plagiarising.
