Abstract. The paper explores the issues of cultural identity, and how cultural differences affect learning English language. The relationship between cultural identity and foreign language learning has been the focus for many researchers. There is an assumption that it can solve the problems caused by cultural differences, assist learners grasp the crux of the language, and develop their English language skills. Based on the analysis, we propose the ideas how to incorporate the elements of Northern indigenous cultures in teaching and learning English language.

The article discusses the issues of effective approaches to English learning. The principles of Common European Framework of References for Languages and technology of SMART– goal setting are analyzed. The authors developed SMART – goal setting for leaning English through digital resources from level A1 to level A2. The study is conducted within the scientific-educational project “Sirius. Leto” as an order of North-Eastern Federal University for development of online platform “My NEFU FL –Route”.

The study includes recommendations for integrating AI into the learning process, emphasizing the need for pedagogical support and ethical considerations. The work has practical significance for the development of teaching methods and digital literacy among students.
