Ecological tourism is gaining significant popularity among urban residents seeking recreation in natural settings. Offerings include excursions to the planet's most remote locations, ranging from elephant trekking to observations of the Northern Lights. Russia's integration into the development of ecotourism occurred later due to infrastructure challenges and highly sensitive ecosystems. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), spanning over 3 million square kilometers, maintains over 90% of its territory in its pristine state. The establishment of a network of specially protected natural areas has become a pivotal aspect of the region's environmental policy. By incorporating the traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples, the law "On Specially Protected Natural Territories" was developed to ensure sustainable tourism development while preserving Yakutia’s natural and cultural heritage. This article defines the concept and types of ecotourism, explores potential development pathways within the republic, and presents the "Ecotourist Memo" developed during the role-playing game "Model of the Assembly of Peoples of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)."
