The article examines the features and technologies of construction in permafrost conditions, one of the most complex engineering-geological environments. Two basic design principles apply: preserving the permafrost state of the soil throughout the entire service life of the facility, and preliminary thawing of the soil. Design solutions such as the use of deep pile foundations, the construction of ventilated crawl spaces, and building on insulated embankments are described. Special attention is paid to concrete work technologies at negative temperatures, the "thermos" method, artificial heating of the mix, and the introduction of chemical additives that lower the freezing point of water. The risks associated with permafrost degradation due to climate change and temperature regime disturbances are analyzed, along with methods for monitoring soil conditions. Using the example of Yakutia, I will show how the combination of thoughtful design, modern materials, and constant monitoring ensures the stability and durability of structures in the extreme conditions of the Far North.
