The article discusses the results of decoding Landsat satellite images of Krestyakh area (Ayano-Maysky District, Khabarovsk Krai) taken at different times. The relevance of the study is due to the high anthropogenic and pyrogenic load on the valley-river taiga landscapes of the Maya River basin. Based on the classification with the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) in QGIS, the vegetation cover transformation in 1986–2023 was analyzed. Two main phases were identified: the active forest degradation phase (1986–2007) caused by a sawmill functioning and fires, and the post-pyrogenic and post-anthropogenic restoration phase (2007–2023) characterized by clearings and residential areas regrowth. The obtained quantitative data and cartographic materials can be used when monitoring the taiga geosystems, assessing the effectiveness of natural regeneration, and planning environmental protection measures in the Maya River basin and adjacent territories of the Russian Far East.
