The article examines the peculiarities of patriotic education of younger schoolchildren in conditions of interaction between school and family. Experimental work including methods for diagnosing students and their parents is described, a project for interaction between the school and the family is presented, and the dynamics of patriotic upbringing of younger schoolchildren and their parents is revealed.

Level of value orientations fixation is crucial in patriotic consciousness establishment. The analysis of value orientations among senior school children of Kirov, which was carried out by means of questioning, showed the low level of patriotic consciousness in young people. That indirectly demonstrates irrationally organized process of patriotic education and lack of interaction between school and family in the matter. It is offered to carry out regular diagnostics of schoolchildren value orientations among different age groups and also the correcting activities of patriotic orientation.
The article presents a brief description of the Corps of army officers of the Russian Empire as a social strata and public Institute, and set some basic factors determinirovavshie historical authorities need to intensify efforts in the sphere of its patriotic education in peacetime.
