This article discusses the need to apply the principle of visualization in teaching foreign languages. The intensively increasing saturation of the information field in the conditions of the modern world requires the creation of a new paradigm of teaching foreign languages. As part of the implementation of improving the quality of education, it is necessary to not only develop and actively introduce innovative technologies into the educational process, but also to use all existing achievements of pedagogical and methodological science in the practice of teaching foreign languages.

The article explores the theme of using specific national and cultural features to improve the process of teaching a foreign language. The role of teacher as a non-native speaker is being examined thorough observation of the process of mastering a foreign language by his/her students, as well as students’ introduction to another culture. The concept of the national-cultural component is investigated, with examples and specifics of its manifestation in teaching English language provided. Based on the results of the study, a conclusion is drawn about the specificity of expressing national-cultural uniqueness of countries in teaching their language in a country where this language is not official.
