This article discusses the need to apply the principle of visualization in teaching foreign languages. The intensively increasing saturation of the information field in the conditions of the modern world requires the creation of a new paradigm of teaching foreign languages. As part of the implementation of improving the quality of education, it is necessary to not only develop and actively introduce innovative technologies into the educational process, but also to use all existing achievements of pedagogical and methodological science in the practice of teaching foreign languages.

The problems of social comparison, hyper-connectivity, the transformation of interpersonal communication indicates the growing number of people experiencing loneliness. The causes of emotional isolation in the digital environment are analyzed. Th influence of social media on young people’s self-esteem is demonstrated. The idealized images formation in modern conditions of digital environments is examined.
