The paper presents the theoretical analysis of value orientations among modern young people and the results of the study of terminal values in life of students-psychologists. Leading positions in the hierarchy of terminal values of students-psychologists is a “private prestige”, “preserve their individuality” and “active social contacts”. These values are meaningful in the most important spheres of life such, as “training and education”, “professional life”, “hobbies”.
The article is devoted to the study of the characteristics of socially parasitic behaviour in children and adolescents, as the consequences of the development of consumer culture in the society. The article presents definitions of various scholars of the phenomenon of socio-parasitic behavior, identifying its characteristics and main forms: prostitution, vagrancy, begging. Formed main factors of this phenomenon in children.

Level of value orientations fixation is crucial in patriotic consciousness establishment. The analysis of value orientations among senior school children of Kirov, which was carried out by means of questioning, showed the low level of patriotic consciousness in young people. That indirectly demonstrates irrationally organized process of patriotic education and lack of interaction between school and family in the matter. It is offered to carry out regular diagnostics of schoolchildren value orientations among different age groups and also the correcting activities of patriotic orientation.

The article aims to consider the value of families in children in residential care, to distinguish children from children who are brought up in complete families. Generalized practical experience of some studies, based on this experience and quantitative and qualitative analysis, some conclusions are drawn on the problems of the formation of family values.
