The article delves into the toponymy and translation of geographical names from Yakut to English based on an analysis of materials gathered within the Sirius Summer project framework. The study has identified that a predominant feature of Yakutia's toponymy lies in the influence exerted by languages spoken by various Northern ethnic groups on the etymology of numerous place names. It has been ascertained that geographical terms denoting natural landmarks in Yakutia often encapsulate historical events and exhibit traits indicative of natural features.

The main objective of the current research article is to delve into the challenges that arise in the process of the translation of the prohibitions-charms used in the indigenous people Evenk hunting rituals into English language. In this study, the focus is aimed on understanding of the distinctive cultural elements and importance of these rituals, while also addressing to the linguistic and cul-tural obstacles that translators can face when they make attempts to accurately convey their significance. By thoroughly analyzing the complexities involved in translating these charms, the article makes a valuable contribution in the field of linguistic studies and intercultural communication.

In this article the relevance of the study of such a linguistic phenomenon as abbreviation is considered and substantiated. The article reveals the concept of "abbreviation", provides the analysis and the result of the study of the peculiarities of the functioning of lexical units of ab-breviations in the English language system. The article considers the ways of formation of new lexical units in the process of abbreviation, gives a general classification of abbreviations and abbreviations in the example of the original dictionary (latinism, abbreviations commonly used in SMS, abbreviations in spoken language, abbreviations of the journalistic style, abbreviations used in online games and Internet community (online slang).

The article addresses the issue of insufficient reading skills in English among Russian students who are non-native speakers. It is noted that traditional reading instruction often fails to provide adequate motivation and results due to its detachment from students' professional interests. The objective of this study is to develop an intensive tutoring approach for fostering reading skills among such students. The scientific novelty lies in the application of individualized tutor support to intensify reading instruction. The reliability of the findings is confirmed by research data, indicating that an individualized approach improves students' reading performance by up to two standard deviations. Examples from Russian practice are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of intensive tutoring. The results suggest that the proposed methodology contributes to the development of text comprehension and enhances students' motivation.
