This research paper investigates the role of urban toponymy, specifically street names, in preserving the historical memory of World War II heroes, using the example of Vera Zakharova, the first female pilot from the Sakha people, in Yakutsk. The study highlights the urgent need to preserve historical heritage as the generation of war participants passes away. The methodology included a comprehensive analysis of biographical sources, archival materials, and a survey among school students to assess their awareness of Vera Zakharova's legacy. The results revealed a significant gap in knowledge: only 7% of respondents were familiar with her biography, despite 78% acknowledging the importance of knowing the history behind street names. As a practical outcome, the project created an educational video and animated film to popularize her story among youth. The study concludes that such multimedia resources, combined with active educational efforts, are crucial for fostering patriotism, strengthening regional identity, and ensuring that the heroic contributions of individuals like Zakharova remain a living part of the community's historical consciousness.
