Abstract. The article is devoted to questions of organization of independent work of the students in conditions point-rating system of an estimation of progress on an example of study of discipline "History of science and technology". The author reveals the positive and negative sides of point-rating system, opens opportunities of its application in connection with study of discipline “History of science and technology”
