«The uncomfortable topic»: the ancient Germans and the Roman Empire in the Helmut Berve’s pamphlet "Imperium Romanum"

Abstract. In the center of the authors' attention is the small work “Imperium Romanum”, written by the famous German researcher, Helmut Berveno . According to the content of this pamphlet the problem of the Roman Empire fall and the role of the ancient Germans in this process are shown as the general paradigm of German-Italian convergence in the beginning of 40s of the ХХ century.
