“Towing tank” of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named by R. E. Alekseyev

Abstract. The author briefly describes the history of creation and the current state of the hydrodynamic laboratory "towing tank" of Nizhni Novgorod State University. There are the characteristics of the equipment and tech-niques of laboratory work. The author describes the role of the laboratory in the formation of naval engineer competencies; the examples of using laboratory equipment for experimental studies in the master's and doctoral theses, as well as examples of the development work.
