The experience of the secondary language personality formation: the historical review

Abstract. The author discusses the experience of the secondary language personality formation on the example of language education in the national pre-revolutionary gymnasium. In the comparative aspect, parallels are stated with the requirements of modern foreign language education. The organization and content of foreign language education in pre-revolutionary gymnasium late XIX early XX century are disclosed, the author allo-cates axiological meaningful experience that can be extrapolated on a modern language education.
