Abstract. In this article detail the objectives pursued to date, the banking sector in Russia. The evaluation of their relevance and importance. It presents an analysis of key performance indicators and prospects for further development of banking in Russia. Also, the author of the main problems of the banking sector at this stage of economic development, and discusses scenarios for the banking system of Russia in modern conditions of growing economic instability in the country.
