The article presents modern methods of commodity identification and expertise. In particular, the instrumental methods of jewelry analysis and examination are described to determine the compliance with the claimed quality, to evaluate precious stones and metal alloys, and to detect imitations.

The article considers the issue of creating models of historical and architectural monuments for museum and exhibition activities. A review of the jewelry works of Kazan masters, symbolically depicting the cultural and architectural monuments of the Republic of Tatarstan, is made for the first time. Unique information is given about the organization of an experimental workshop for the manufacture of jewelry models of architectural monuments, about the technologies and innovations introduced into the modern history of jewelry in Kazan. The methods of included observation and the empirical method were used in the work, this is due to the fact that the author of this article is a practicing jeweler and was directly involved in the manufacture and design of the described products.
