The article examines the analysis of the semantics and cultural background of the color words of the Russian language “red” and “yellow”. The study mainly describes the original meaning and figurative meanings of the adjective “red”, and also analyzes its cultural origin and development associated with different meanings.
The semantic, syntactic and lexical valences of the Russian noun GAME are investigated. The practically unlimited ability of its main lexical-semantic variants to be combined with other nouns, adjectives, pronouns, adverbs and verbs is established. The entring of the word GAME into the set of lexical units that make up the linguistic personality of representatives of many creative professions is postulated.
The controversial issues about effective approaches and techniques of teaching grammar, which is an integral component in the formation of foreign language competence, are revealed in the article. The methods of the traditional approach and the non-traditional ones (these last techniques help to master a foreign language without strict grammar instructions) are compared and analyzed in this investigation.
The work considers the semantics of the housing nomination based on the material of Russian old-timer dialects of Yakutia. The vocabulary presented in the dialects reflects the historical and cultural path of development of Russian old-timers, the peculiarities of the functioning and development of the language in a foreign language environment and isolation. Analysis of the semantics of nominations made it possible to identify a wide variety of species and types in the names of dwellings, which allowed the author to sys-tematize them into groups.
The article examines the internal form of phraseology to throw words to the wind 'to say something in vain', taking into account the ritual of causing a deadly hurricane described in A. Volkov's fairy tale «The Wizard of the Emerald City». The magical actions contained in this description are compared with numerous information about the beliefs of the Russian and Belarusian peoples related to harmful magic. Attention is drawn to the parallelism of magical actions, which consists in throwing certain objects into the wind by a witch or sorcerer while simultaneously pronouncing a spell text.
