Updated competence approach in the training of students of pedagogical high school in the conditions of introduction of new educational standards is proved in the article. Formation of a foreign language professional communicative competence of the student is seen as a prerequisite for a successful career of students of pedagogical high school. The methods, techniques and educational technology for formation of foreign language professional communicative competence of students of pedagogical high school based on practical experience in the Volgograd State Social Pedagogical University during Foreign Language lessons are described.

The implementation of competence-based approach – a method that allows you to determine the outcome of education in accordance with the requirements of modern society, modern production and modern spe-cialist. The problem of the formation of competencies because of their complexity and systemic nature of innovation requires the expertise required for its use in each of the educational program. At this point, all the more necessary to pay attention to the competence of teachers needed to achieve the strategic goals of education.
