Abstract. The paper explores the impact of students’ personal traits on the development of information competence in the course of vocational training at higher educational institution. The attention is drawn to the fact that the successful development of information competence promotes personal orientation, self-awareness, readiness to meet the new challenges facing a personality, attitude to information as a value commitment to life-long learning, focus on results. It is emphasized that the development of information competence of students can contribute to the study of elective modules (elective courses) using modern information technology.
