Abstract. In article substantiates the relevance and necessity of the organization of project and research activity when studying elements of geometry locates in elementary school. Stages and steps of modeling and design of volume figures by younger pupils are considered. Results of a pilot study on influence of methods of design and research activity on formation of geometrical representations and concepts on base of 3rd grade of MBOU NOSH of Gaverdovski (Republic of Adygea) are generalized.
