The paper examines the problem of definition of social reproduction (and its components) as a key factor of innovation activity of industrial enterprises. The author analyzes the characteristics of the phenomenon of social reproduction from the theoretical point of view. On the basis of the study the author proposes to allocate a special layer of needs – innovative needs; gives the definition, main characteristics and types.
