The author raises the issue of popularization of pedagogical knowledge as knowledge demanded in society. To do this, he turns to the history of scientific and popular publications on pedagogy in second half of the twentieth century. Popularization of pedagogical knowledge is considered from different sides. On the one hand, as an enlightening function. On the other hand as a condition of the science authority in its relation to educational practice. And finally as a means of improving pedagogical culture of the society.
